Beedie recognizes the critical importance of nurturing the next generation of leaders in both the real estate and construction industries. Since our formal internship launch in 2020, the program has welcomed nearly 40 talented students, offering them a platform to enhance their skills and industry knowledge through invaluable first-hand experience and mentorship.
Our internship opportunities span across the country, including our head office in Burnaby, as well as our Downtown Vancouver and Ontario locations. This year, we’ve broadened our internship placements to include opportunities with our Land Development, Development, Finance, Beedie Capital, Marketing, Interior Design, Estimating, and Construction teams. These unique placements allow interns to gain hands-on experience with a highly experienced team that has grown to become a North American leader in real estate development, investment, and property management.
In honour of National Intern Day, we had the opportunity to speak with our interns to learn more about their experiences here at Beedie. They were excited to share their insights and stories with us and other young professionals looking to enter the industry.

How was your overall internship experience with Beedie?
Beedie has always strived to provide an exceptional experience for our interns. Karan from Land Development has shared that the “inclusive and encouraging atmosphere at Beedie has made [his] time here immensely positive and enriching.” Further to an inclusive environment, Sophie from Residential Marketing has shared that “there have been many opportunities for growth through the team-based learning environment.”
Not only does Beedie provide a supportive and growth positive environment, but we also take pride in our company values being exemplified by all our employees. Kim from Interior Design shared that she gained “extensive knowledge in [her] chosen field, but also made meaningful friendships during [her] time at Beedie.” Luca from Construction “would highly recommend an internship with Beedie as there is always an opportunity to learn and you will always feel welcomed and a part of the group.”
What do you think sets Beedie apart from other companies in our industry?
Ellie from Industrial Development has shared that “Beedie highlights the importance of community within the company walls, hosting social events, volunteer opportunities, and team bonding experiences that allow you to build a stronger connection with co-workers, resulting in a comfortable and uplifting environment.” Dasom from Finance has shared a similar perspective through the unique Beedie Cares program, fitness programs and by offering “so many activities and events” which everyone can participate. Omkar from Residential Estimating believes that what truly sets Beedie apart from the rest is that the “work culture here is incredibly positive and supportive, fostering both personal and professional growth.”
Tell us about any new skills, techniques, and knowledge you gained this summer. What was your biggest take-away?
Basant from Industrial Estimating has mastered a new OST software system and feels that it is a “significant achievement that [he] can now include in [his] resume, enhancing prospects for future opportunities.” Annie from Finance was able to learn about various financial instruments and “enhance problem-solving” skills and build career level skills. Soniya at Beedie Capital has shared that she has “learned how to take a long-term perspective to see how much growth potential the company has and how well management is equipped to follow through on their objectives.”
Beedie’s summer internship is a unique opportunity for students to gain valuable knowledge and experiences that can help enhance their future careers. Our interns have shared experience like Kaylin as looking “back on [the] time at Beedie fondly and intend to recommend it to other co-op students seeking valuable and professional internship opportunities.” We look forward to seeing how each of our 2024 summer interns make their mark and become future leaders within our industry.
